THE ANDROID WORKBENCH
Android virtual camera: check your setup
Use your own image or video as camera input in a compatible Android app. Start with the phone requirements, then test the exact app and capture mode you need.

Your media, a different camera input
How the media reaches the app
DRVCAM supplies selected media to supported camera paths in the apps you enable. A working preview does not prove that a saved photo, recording or remote caller receives the same output.
What counts as compatibility evidence?
No device or app combination is newly certified by this guide. Record the phone, Android version, DRVCAM build, target app version and camera mode for each test.
| Mode | What to inspect | Status on this page |
|---|---|---|
| Preview | The target app displays your chosen media with the expected framing. | Not tested here |
| Photo or recording | Open the saved file outside the preview and inspect the actual output. | Not tested here |
| Video call | With the other participant's consent, inspect the picture and audio they actually receive. | Not tested here |
Your first controlled test
- 01
Follow the installation guide, then run Check Environment in DRVCAM. Resolve root or module warnings first.
- 02
Choose media you own, enable only your test app, then reopen that app's camera.
- 03
Test one mode at a time. Inspect the saved or received result, not just the preview.
- 04
Disable replacement when finished and confirm that the real camera works again.
Know the limits before you choose
This DRVCAM setup requires root. Camera implementations differ between apps and devices; an Android version alone is not compatibility proof. If a mode fails, use the manual's troubleshooting steps and record the exact setup.

Compare apps if you are choosing a product. If you need a desktop webcam or a phone-to-computer feed, start with the category guide instead.
