Introducing DRVCAM: A Virtual Camera for Rooted Android 9–16

For years, rooted Android users have asked us the same question: can I make an app's camera show a video I already have? Maybe you want to record a clip with a prepared scene, go live with a looping intro, present a product demo without juggling a second phone, or test a camera app with the exact same input every time. Until now the honest answer was "sort of, with an abandoned module and a lot of luck". Today we are launching DRVCAM, our answer to that question.

What DRVCAM does

DRVCAM is a virtual camera for rooted Android. You import your own videos or photos, choose which apps should receive the feed, and DRVCAM presents your media through those apps' camera. When a supported app records, streams, takes a photo or starts a video call, its camera sees your DRVCAM source instead of the lens.

Your real microphone keeps working normally. DRVCAM changes the picture only, so a recording or live stream still carries your own voice.

Built for control, not just replacement

Swapping a camera for a file is only the start. What makes DRVCAM different is how much you can steer while it runs:

• Main plus two presets. Each scene remembers its source, playback speed, loop setting, pan, zoom, rotation, mirror and framing, so switching scenes is one tap.
• Playback control. Play, pause, seek, restart, loop or play once, from 0.5× to 2× speed.
• Framing editor. Camera fill and 4:3, 16:9, 9:16 and 1:1 framing, without touching the original file.
• Floating controller. A bubble that stays above the app you are using, so you can change everything without leaving it.
• Virtual ↔ physical switch. Jump to the real camera and back while your media and target apps stay set up.
• Several apps at once. Select multiple target apps and send each one the live state.

What you need

DRVCAM is made for phones that are already rooted:

• Android 9 to 16. There are two builds: one for Android 9–11 and one for Android 12–16.
• Root with Magisk, KernelSU or APatch.
• An Xposed framework from the LSPosed family, running on Zygisk.
• A DRVCAM account. Plans include every feature, and free trials are available.

• Creators and presenters who want prepared media on camera, with the freedom to cut between scenes while recording or streaming.
• Developers and testers who need to push the same, repeatable input through a camera app and check what it actually saved.
• Android enthusiasts who enjoy getting the most out of a rooted phone.

Compatibility, honestly

Every phone, Android build and camera app handles the camera a little differently, so results can vary between apps and camera modes. Some manufacturer camera apps use proprietary camera modes that DRVCAM does not take over; a different camera app usually works. The free trial exists exactly so you can check your own phone and your own apps before you pay.
