Custom ROM Installation for Supported Android Devices

A custom ROM is a device-specific software project, not a universal Android image. We check the exact model and current ROM evidence before discussing a clean or dirty flash.

Choose the Device-Supported ROM First

Before any download, confirm the exact model, variant, firmware/vendor base, bootloader state, recovery method, and current maintainer instructions. A ROM that works on one regional or carrier variant may not work on another.

Supported ROM names are not promised from a static brand list. Current compatibility evidence must exist for the exact device combination before it is treated as an install candidate.

  • Confirm the device codename and variant, not just the retail name.
  • Match firmware, vendor, modem, recovery, and ROM release requirements.
  • Decide whether a clean flash is required or a dirty flash is explicitly supported.
  • Choose GApps or a de-Googled setup only where the ROM and device support it.
  • Record backup, encryption, rollback, and return-to-stock options before wiping.

Clean Flash, Dirty Flash, and the Data Boundary

Flash choices in plain language
ChoiceMeaning and risk
Clean flashWipes the relevant user-data state before installing. Usually the safer choice when changing ROM families, but data must be backed up first.
Dirty flashKeeps user data across a supported update. It is not a universal shortcut and can carry migration or boot risks.
GAppsGoogle packages must match the ROM and Android release; availability and behavior depend on the project.
De-GoogledMay improve privacy for the intended user, but app compatibility and setup effort can change substantially.

Features Are Not Guaranteed Across Devices

Banking apps, DRM and streaming quality, VoLTE, Wi-Fi calling, camera processing, fingerprint behavior, encryption, and battery life can change after a ROM install. These are device- and ROM-dependent outcomes, not promises of the installation service.

GrapheneOS is discussed only for officially supported Pixel devices. We do not imply that GrapheneOS can be installed universally or that an unofficial port has the same security model.

Return to Stock and Recovery Plan

Before a flash, identify the official stock firmware, bootloader/relock rules, encryption state, and the recovery route if the phone does not boot. Return-to-stock feasibility varies by model and may not clear a permanent tamper flag.

Match the ROM to the Exact Variant

Send the model/codename, region, current firmware, and ROM you are considering. We will identify the prerequisites and tradeoffs before a wipe or flash.
